Places to Visit in Jaipur, the Pink City of Rajasthan

Jaipur was our first destination in India after traveling Nepal for about two weeks. We spent around five days here and had another month to go throughout our trip.

Initially we thought five days was going to be a little too long but it was not until we had actually taken this that we felt the gratitude of getting used to the soils of a foreign land, culture, people, the whereabouts of local geography and also just to realize the exhaustion we had accumulated throughout this trip. Traveling is beautiful and my body and soul always yearns for it. However, we tend to forget that human beings are natural species that intuitively try to adapt to a new land when moving. This is an incredible feature but we must be conscious of it, in order to ease our bodies and mind of the stress that comes with.

With that being said, here is a short blog that introduces the beautiful places I was able to visit in the city/heart of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Jaipur is well known as the Pink City. The whole city was painted pink when Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur decided to paint the whole city to welcome guests from abroad. Its’ gorgeous orange-pink architecture and elaborate royal palaces make it a go-to destination for photographers. The color is even enforced by local law!

Where we stayed

  • Mosaic Guest House: The most beautiful, local and at-home guest house you can possibly think of. It is like a hidden gem located outside of the city centre which allows you perceive Jaipur from a different standing point after a long day of exploring the city. They have a professional chef who serves homemade dinner and breakfast everyday and a beautiful view.

Where we visited

  • Hawa Mahal: A beautiful palace that resides in the center of the city, is known as the palace of wind. The interesting design with numerous windows in the front is for the female royals who were able to see the daily lives of people in Jaipur through these glasses.

  • Amer Fort: Located a tuktuk ride away from the city centre and high on the hills, Amer Fort is perhaps the main tourist attraction. It is famous for its captivating architecture and history.

  • Anokhi Museum: A museum where you can see first hand the traditional craftmanship of block print in India.
