Hampi, is it worth the hassle?

Hampi is located right in the middle of Goa and Bangalore and is not the nearest place from either. Because we had initially planned to visit Goa, from Goa we took an overnight bus to Hospet, the closest city to Hampi. (You can take either tuktuk or a local bus from Hospet to Hampi.) To say the least we did sacrifice a lot of our time and energy for this to happen, not to mention the Indiana Jones like bumpy night bus was absolutely terrifying. I remember my body completely lost its battle with gravity a couple of times, so although we did hope to save our over night stay fee in a hotel by taking a night bus, we were not able to get much sleep.

However, once we got to Hampi and just saw one glance of the place, all of that stress and hassle just instantaneously became completely worth it. Even after traveling India here on, Hampi is still one of the most surprising and memorable places I had visited throughout this trip.

No words are sufficient to express how beautifully mysterious Hampi is. It’s like one of those places that appear in movies like StarWars or Interstellar as an unreal island where humans have never stepped foot in. However, what’s different about Hampi is that humans did indeed live here and built a kingdom. The combination of natural coincidence and human structure is what creates Hampi today.
